ZENONIA 1 Guides

From Ayles to the Canyon of Despair — systems, story, and first-hour advice in one place.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map for every ZENONIA 1 guide on the wiki. The Steam restoration keeps the 2008 campaign — Regret, three classes, five seals, hunger, weight, and a good-or-evil split — and wraps it in a PC interface with keyboard, mouse, and controller support. If you are opening the game for the first time, start with Getting Started. If you already remember feature-phone nights in Ayles, jump to what changed for PC and the class tier list.

How these guides are organised

The first-hour pages cover decisions you cannot cheaply undo: class, controls, and the hunger loop. The story pages follow Regret from the Town of Ayles through Adonis, Garlic Lake, and the Cave of Deceit, then into the five seals and the Canyon of Despair. System pages sit beside the story so you can look up food, inventory weight, alignment, and item rarity without rereading the whole campaign.

Use the first-hour checklist as a printable path. Use the class comparison tool when you are still staring at Warrior, Paladin, and Assassin. Use the Steam demo guide if you are still inside Next Fest limits and should not spoil the later seals. Optional hunts, Libra Oasis, and companion errands live on side quests so the seal spine stays readable.

First hour

Class is chosen once per save. Assassin hits hardest and dies fastest. Paladin absorbs mistakes in early slimes and cave trash. Warrior sits between them and remains the most even teaching tool. After you lock a class, read the controls guide so the double-tap dash, skill bar, and map keys match the Steam build rather than a phone overlay from 2009.

Hunger and weight still punish long field trips. Carry food before you leave Ayles, repair before a dungeon, and do not treat the inventory like a warehouse. The hunger and weight guide explains why a full bag makes Regret feel sluggish and why an empty stomach turns a normal cave into a retreat. Pair that page with items so you know which drops to keep.

Story and combat pages

The main walkthrough is the spine: prologue, Ayles chores, Adonis, Cave of Deceit, then Seal of Deceit, Despise, Greed, Betrayal, and Shame. Side quests sit beside that spine — they pad gold and XP, they do not replace Pale. Boss names change with alignment — Pale at the first seal, Vicious or Vague at Despise, the Ghost of Ladon at Betrayal, Virulent or Lady Charity at Shame. The bosses guide isolates those fights. The map and locations page lists towns and overworld connectors without forcing you to read every quest paragraph.

Alignment is not a hidden meter you can ignore. Dialogue, NPC requests, and a handful of story beats push Regret toward good or evil and swap later bosses and the ending. Read good versus evil before you donate, steal, or pick a sarcastic line in Adonis.

Demo versus full game

The Steam demo is roughly an hour in the Adonis region, stopping before you pursue the Seal of Deceit. It is the right place to test combat feel, the restored dash, and whether hunger still annoys you. It is the wrong place to farm endgame gear or hunt every side quest. Keep demo notes on the demo page and save seal spoilers for the full walkthrough.

After you leave the hub

When a guide names a class, it links to the matching build page: Warrior, Paladin, or Assassin. When it names a Steam date, it points at the Steam launch note. When it names a system requirement, it points at PC requirements. Official store, Discord, and support links live on the links hub.

This wiki is unofficial. Always confirm prices, patch notes, and language lists on the Steam page before you buy.
