ZENONIA 1 Items and Gear

Hundreds of pieces across rarity tiers — what to vendor, what to wear, what to eat.

Items and Gear

Steam’s store page promises hundreds of items across multiple rarity tiers, and that promise is the original ZENONIA loot loop: weapons and armor that change how Regret looks, food that keeps the hunger system honest, and junk that exists to fill the bag until weight punishes you. This page is a practical filter, not a complete database. Use it to decide what leaves Ayles in your pack.

Class pages name the weapons they actually want: Warrior, Paladin, Assassin. Stat math lives on builds. This page is about rarity, shops, durability, and food.

Rarity and appearance

Regret’s sprite changes with equipped weapon and armor. That is not a fashion DLC; it is how you read your own loadout at a glance. A new silhouette after a shop visit usually means the piece is a real upgrade, not a sidegrade with a prettier name.

Rarity bands climb as you move through Adonis, the seals, and the Canyon of Despair. Early whites and blues are for Ayles. Do not hoard them “for a collection save.” Vendor duplicates. Keep one upgrade path for weapon, one for armor, and a food stack. If a drop is the same tier as your current gear but heavier, skip it — weight is a hidden tax.

Steam equipment comparison, added in the restoration, is the tool that should sit open in every shop. Compare before you buy. The old phone UI made that painful; the PC shop controls exist so you stop guessing.

Weapons and armor by class

Warrior wants balanced blades and enough armor to stay in melee. Paladin wants the heaviest honest defense that does not freeze the dash. Assassin wants fast weapons and light armor even when a shiny plate looks better on paper. If you put plate on Assassin because the rarity star is higher, you will feel it in the controls dash, not in the item tooltip.

Do not mix random off-class drops just because they dropped. The skill tree assumes a weapon type. A pretty staff-looking drop that is actually a slow two-hander can wreck an Assassin clear. When in doubt, stay inside the class’s obvious family and read builds.

Food and consumables

Food is gear. A cave without meals is a shorter cave. Buy cheap filling food in every town. Quest cakes and specialty drops are for bosses and long trap rooms (Greed). Potions and SP items are for seal fights, not for the walk from the inn to the gate.

Quest items that drop from specific slimes or birds stop dropping when the request is complete. Extra farming after that is only for normal loot. That rule is in the original monster-hunt design and still saves time if you remember it.

Durability, repair, and shops

Everything you wear breaks. The Steam build added batch repair so you are not confirming each sock. Repair in town before a seal. Carrying a second identical sword “as backup” is how weight balloons. Repair is cheaper than a wipe plus a hunger spiral.

Shops restock with the region. Adonis shops are not Canyon shops. Do not skip a town vendor because you plan to “just use drops.” Drops are streaky; shops are the floor of a tier. The map tells you which towns you will see before each seal.

What to pick up on the ground

  • Same-tier weapon with a clear stat win and similar weight: yes.
  • Same-tier armor that matches your class: yes.
  • Food when the stack is low: always.
  • Vendor trash when you are already near overweight: no.
  • Quest items until the counter fills: yes, then stop hunting that pack.

Boss chests are the exception. Look at the bosses page for when a chest is worth a bag reshuffle.

Steam restoration notes

The team kept the item identity of the original: many pieces, visible equipment, hunger tied to food. They improved comparison, shop controls, and repair flow. They did not turn ZENONIA 1 into a quality-dump ARPG where every rare is an instant equip. You still think. That is the point.

If you are in the demo, you will only see early bands. Do not judge endgame rarity from Adonis. If you are planning the full campaign after the August 31, 2026 Steam launch date, keep this page open next to the walkthrough so each new town is a vendor stop, not a museum.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new and returning adventurers.

How many items are in ZENONIA 1?

The Steam page says hundreds across multiple rarity tiers. You will not see most of them in the Adonis demo.

Should I keep every drop?

No. Weight punishes hoarding. Vendor duplicates and off-class pieces. See hunger and weight.

Does equipment change how Regret looks?

Yes. Weapon and armor sets change the sprite. That is a useful upgrade signal in shops.

Where do I repair?

Town shops. Use batch repair on PC before each seal listed in the walkthrough.
