ZENONIA 1 Side Quests
Optional hunts, oasis requests, and companion errands that pad gold without replacing the seals.
Side quests in ZENONIA 1 are the original Gamevil extras wearing a Steam quest log. Com2us Holdings said the volume and structure stay faithful to the first adventure, with better guidance so a hunt is easier to follow. They are still optional. You can finish the five seals and the Canyon of Despair without completing every portrait in town. This page is the extra map. The spine stays the walkthrough. Geography sits on the map.
The embedded video is a Libra Oasis side-quest capture from the original campaign. Steam UI differs; the oasis requests and the habit of talking twice to a unique portrait do not.
How side work actually pays
Ayles teaches the pattern before Adonis. Fetch firewood, kill a quota of slimes, buy food, repair. Special quest drops stop appearing once the counter is full. Extra kills still drop normal loot. That rule returns for the rest of the campaign. If you stay in a field after the counter fills because you want a unique, you are farming the field, not the quest. Items covers what to keep.
Gold, XP, and a little world texture are the usual payout. Alignment can still twitch if a request asks you to help or exploit someone. Do not treat every side box as morally empty. Read alignment before you pick a cruel option “for the extra gold.”
Hunger and weight do not pause because a marker is yellow. A full bag of vendor trash makes the walk to an oasis slower than the monsters on the road. Eat, repair, dump whites. Hunger and weight.
Ayles and Adonis chores
Early requests are tutorials with jokes. They are worth doing once: they fund the first stack of meals and teach you not to sprint past shops. They are not worth repeating after the counter fills. The Steam demo lives in Adonis up to Investigating the Cave of Deceit. Later oasis and companion errands are full-game territory; do not hunt them inside the demo hour and assume the log is broken.
Sun’s thread is story-adjacent. Talking to companions after a seal is how a lot of “I missed a quest” reports start. When a unique portrait appears after Deceit or Despise, talk twice, then check the log. The restoration’s improved quest guidance is there so you are not guessing which cave the text meant.
Libra Oasis
Libra Oasis is the named side region veterans timestamp in original walkthroughs. Requests there are easy to walk past if you only follow seal icons. Treat the oasis as a rest stop between seals: restock food, dump weight, pick up the local hunts, then return to the walkthrough before Shame. Doing oasis work after the finale is possible in spirit but a worse use of hunger ticks.
The video on this page is the oasis chapter index. Use it to recognize NPC placement, then play the Steam HUD. Do not copy a 2009 phone overlay onto the restoration.
Leo and companion errands
Leo-style companion quests show up later and are easy to miss if you never reopen old towns. They pay XP and character texture. They do not open the Canyon of Despair. If you are racing an ending, skip them. If you want the 40-hour claim Gamevil used to advertise, include them before the last dungeon.
Companion errands can sit next to alignment-sensitive dialogue. If a request sounds like a test, it probably is. Paladin cosmetics will not save an evil meter you filled in an oasis joke option.
Hunt quotas without overfarming
Quotas are numbers, not lifestyles. When the special drop stops, leave. Remaining in the same slime field until you outlevel the next seal is how first-hour files stall. If a boss two-shots you, check food, durability, and whether your class skill bar is empty before you grind the previous map for an hour.
Steam QoL that helps side work: equipment comparison in shops, batch repair before a hunt loop, quick save before a fork that might be moral. Those tools are listed on PC changes. They do not delete the quota rule.
Demo versus full game
Demo: Ayles-to-Adonis chores and whatever the Adonis log shows before the Cave of Deceit wall. Full game (Steam date August 31, 2026): oasis, later companion errands, and the space between seals. If a YouTube chapter named “Leo” or “Libra Oasis” plays after Shame, you are watching the original campaign past the demo line.
Class choice still matters on the road to an oasis. Assassin clears hunts fastest and dies to surprise packs. Paladin walks there. Warrior is the teaching middle. Tier list.
Suggested order relative to seals
- Ayles chores once, then leave. Getting Started.
- Adonis requests until the demo wall or, in the full game, until the Cave of Deceit is open.
- After Deceit, talk to new portraits, then the next seal. Do not empty every field.
- Libra Oasis between middle seals, not after credits.
- Leo-style errands before the Canyon if you want the extra levels; skip if you already sit in the current rarity band.
Side content is the restoration’s extra texture, not a second campaign. When an interview says the team kept the original volume, believe it and budget time. When a marker fights the seal icon, the seal wins. Return to the Guides hub for systems, or the updates hub if you are here because a patch note mentioned quest guidance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for new and returning adventurers.
Are ZENONIA 1 side quests required?
No. Seals and the Canyon of Despair are the campaign. Side work is optional XP, gold, and character texture.
Does the Steam demo include Libra Oasis?
The demo stops before Investigating the Cave of Deceit in Adonis. Later oasis and companion errands are full-game content. See the demo guide.
Can side quests change alignment?
Some requests ask you to help or exploit NPCs. Read alignment before treating every extra box as a joke.
When should I do hunt quotas?
Once per counter. When special drops stop, leave. Do not farm the same field instead of the next seal.
