ZENONIA 1 First-Hour Checklist

Ayles to Adonis without starving, snapping a sword, or walking into the demo wall blind.

First-Hour Checklist

This is the short list. The sentences behind it live in Getting Started. Tick these before you argue with a seal.

Before the prologue ends

  • Read the class comparison or the tier list.
  • Pick Paladin (safest), Warrior (default), or Assassin (skilled).
  • Understand there is no respec. Builds if you need point rules.
  • Confirm keyboard or controller on controls.
  • Test double-tap dash in the first field. Afterimage should exist in the full build (PC changes).

Town of Ayles

  • Buy a cheap food stack.
  • Repair starter gear. Use batch repair on PC.
  • Check weight. Vendor duplicate whites.
  • Open equipment comparison before a shop buy (items).
  • Clear the obvious chores (firewood-style fetches, slime requests).
  • Stop farming a quest pack after the counter fills.

Garlic Lake to Adonis

  • Eat before the road if the hunger icon is already talking.
  • Do not dump the entire bag “for later.” Hunger and weight.
  • In Adonis, restock food and repair again.
  • Talk to the companion thread (Sun) without skipping every line if you care about story.
  • Do one side request, not ten, unless you love the loop.

Demo stop or full-game fork

  • If you are on the demo: stop before Investigating the Cave of Deceit. Demo guide.
  • If you are on the full game: quick save before the Deceit story fork. Alignment.
  • Full game only: continue the walkthrough into Pale and the later seals.
  • Full game only: repair before each seal. Bosses.

HUD checks (Steam)

  • HP, SP, EXP bars visible.
  • Skill slots Z, X, C, V not empty once skills exist.
  • Clock (day-night) noticed at least once.
  • Minimap used in fields, not trusted as a full cave map. Map.
  • Audio sliders set so the loop is not a weapon.

Hardware and store

What you should not tick

  • Do not tick “ignore hunger.” It is still in the restoration.
  • Do not tick “wait for a fourth class.” There are three.
  • Do not tick “invite a friend.” Single-player only.
  • Do not tick “I will respec in Adonis.” Start a new file if you bricked stats.

If this list is done, you are allowed to play. If a later seal feels impossible, come back and check food, weight, and repair before you reroll class. The review is optional. Eating is not.

Why a checklist instead of another essay

ZENONIA 1 punishes skipped chores more than skipped lore. A player who knows every seal name and forgets to repair still wipes on Ladon. A player who never reads the jokes but buys food still finishes. This list exists so you can keep the Steam window on the left and the wiki on the right without scrolling a novel during a shop visit.

Tick the Ayles block every time you start a new class file. Assassin files fail the weight tick more often; Paladin files fail the “I bought no STR food because I am a tank” tick. Warrior files fail the “just one more cave” durability tick. The class pages explain why: Warrior, Paladin, Assassin.

If you are teaching a friend, send this page plus the demo guide. Do not send the full walkthrough until they leave Adonis. Spoilers are optional. Hunger is not.

Return to the tools hub for the other tables. Launch timing sits on Steam launch. Official store sits on the links hub.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for new and returning adventurers.

Is this checklist only for the demo?

No. Ayles through Adonis is both the demo and the full game's first hour. The stop line is demo-only.

What is the one item I should not skip?

Food. Then repair. Then weight. Hunger and weight.

Where is the class pick on this list?

First section. Use class comparison if you have not clicked yet.

Do I need this if I played in 2009?

Skim HUD, dash, batch repair, and the demo wall. Those are Steam-era. PC changes.
